Barcelona 8-0 Osasuna

FC Barcelona were rampant tonight against a poor Osasuna side finishing as 8-0 winners at the Camp Nou.Lionel Messi got a hat trick, Villa had 2, Fabregas and Xavihad 1 each plus an own goal gave Barcelona an impressive win.

Barcelona got a dream start after a tough week as they went ahead 5 minutes into the game. Sergio Busquetspicked out a great run from Dani Alves and the Brazilian full back headed the ball across the goal for Messi to charge in and finish into the empty net for his 7th of the season.

Immediately after the goal Barcelona pressed for the second, Villa and Messi forced saves from Fernandez in the Osasuna goal after impressive dribble from the two forward players. 8 minutes after the first they had their second, Fabregas and Messi played a one two on the edge of the box which ended in Fabregas volleying the ball beautifully into the far top corner giving Fernandez no chance.

The Fabregas-Messi combo almost gave Barcelona their third 25 minutes in. Messi played a defence splitting through ball to meet a great run from Fabregas but he was unable to beat Fernandez who was out quickly to smother the chance.

Barcelona continued to dominate and Osasuna could not hold onto the ball for more than a few passes and on 30 minutes Barca again came close.  Dani Alves found space down the right wing and crossed for Messiin the box, the Argentine towered above the Osasuna defence but his header which beat Fernandez came back off the post and away to safety.

Barca were piling on the pressure now and they finally got their third after 34 minutes. Abidal found Villa in the box and the Spanish international went around Fernandez and passed into the empty net, 3-0.  Barcelona made it 5-0 before halftime, first Villa got onto to a ball over the top and his attempt was saved by Fernandez but the ball ricocheted off Villa and then off a Osasuna defender and into the net. Then Fabregas showed some excellent skill inside the box setting up Messi for his second of the night and Barca‘s 5th.

After the break Barcelona took the foot off the gas slightly but still almost made it 6-0 five minutes in, Messichipping Fernandez from inside the box but the ball bounced back off the crossbar, the woodwork denyingMessi for the second time in the game.

Messi turned provider when he set up Xavi Hernandez for the 6th goal, Xavi did what Messi couldn’t earlier by lobbing Fernandez after he was picked out with a pass from midfield by Messi.

After 77 minutes it was 7-0, Fabregas ran forward from midfield and found a gap in the Osasuna defence, he passed the ball across to David Villa when he was one on one with Fernandez and Villa cut back inside Fernandez again and passed the ball into the empty net. A minute later it was 8, Messi finished past a helpless Fernandez after another one two with Fabregas on the edge of the box.
